Each picture can either be just a picture, or it can be a clickable thumb. Both have a description underneath. A thumb also has a magnifying glass symbol showing that it can be clicked. Each clickable thumb has a picture page associated with it, with the full size picture on it, and a longer description.

The way I design web pages means that the content moves to use the available space in the browser window. This is in contrast to the many fixed width designs out there. As monitor sizes increase, as they have, this will become more important and noticeable to surfers. Here is an example displayed on 3x different monitor sizes. You can see how the content moves to use the available space.

When I create a gallery of thumbnails (small pictures), I do it so that they best use the space available in the browser windows. If the window is resized, the gallery moves to use the space available. Here is an example displayed on 3x different monitor sizes. You can see how the content moves to use the available space.

Thumbs of the previous/next 2x images are displayed. There are also last/next arrows. This makes it easy for the surfer to go through all the large images without having to return to the gallery page each time.

A good aspect of website design is that clickable things change when you hover over them with the mouse. The buttons I create change in some way when the mouse moves over them. Try moving the mouse over the menu on this web page as an example.

Fundamental to all my website designs is that the surfer can change the text size. This is useful for people with poor eyesight or who have large monitors. I am careful to design my webpages so that changing the text size works properly.

When the text size is increased on my web pages, all the text grows. It would be of little use increasing some of the text, but leaving for example, the button text the same size. Notice how the button text has grown in the 2nd image, and the buttons have grown to make room for it.

You can try it for yourself on this page, or any other webiste you visit. Go to the browser menu in the top left. Click on 'View' and then 'Text Size'. Don't forget to reset it or remember how to!

One sure way to get spam emails is to publish your email address on a web page. There are three main solutions to this.

• Use an email address just for initial contacts, which you intend to change when spam gets too much.
• Use a contact form with an anti-spam system built in.
• Display the email address as an image.

From my experience the order of these options reflects the happiness of people to use them, so I recommend them in that order. I can include a secure contact form at extra cost.

I design web pages so that the surfer can print the page, and they get only the useful information from the web page. Try it on this page. Go to the browser menu in the top left. Click on 'File' and then 'Print Preview'. You'll see just the useful content of the page displayed and ready for printing.

If you have a large amount of text on a web page it can be difficult to read. I can provide a newspaper column facility, which breaks the text into columns, and flexibly uses the full browser window space. I am not aware of this facility on any other website.

If you want your visitors to be able to see where you are using Google Earth, I can include a link on your website.

I can offer visitors statistics, which you can access by logging in to a private webpage, so you can see how your website is being visited.

If you have your own domain name, you can have up to 5 email addresses based on that name. eg if your domain name is www.widgets.com, then you can have xyz at widgets.com.
